Do clients pay for the meals prepared by AFL?
There is no cost to our clients or dependent children of our clients.
What is the coast of meals?
It costs approximately $5.00 per day for 2 meals or $1565.00 per year per client.
Where does AFL get its funding?
Through several local foundations, grants, private donations, fundraisers, and our catering services. We do not receive any state or federal funds at this time.


How many meals does AFL serve daily?
At this time we provide two meals per day, seven days per week to approximately 50 clients. As of January 2005 we had served over 234,000 meals!


How are clients referred to the program?
Referrals are obtained from the client’s caseworker, social worker or their health care provider.
Who prepares and delivers the meals?
Appetite for Life relies on approximately 15 volunteers to prepare, package and deliver the meals.

What type of volunteers does AFLI need
Our kitchen volunteers prepare and package the meals. Volunteer drivers deliver the meals to our clients. Our volunteers also assist in the office and with outreach activities such as health fairs and career fairs.

How many hours are required to volunteer?
Kitchen volunteers are asked to work 1 – 2 hours per week between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. Drivers are asked to volunteer 1 – 2 hours per week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. We deliver meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
